Michael earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Southern Utah University and a Juris Doctor from Willamette University College of Law. While in law school, he worked in the Marion County District Attorney’s Office prosecuting criminal cases. After law school, he returned to Southern Utah and spent 14 years as a Deputy Iron County Attorney (including 5 years as a Chief Deputy) where he prosecuted a wide variety of criminal offenses. He also served as legal counsel for the Critical Incident Task Force, Planning Commission, County Commission, Accident Review Board, and all County offices and departments.
Michael has experience handling cases involving DUI, Domestic Violence, Controlled Substance, Assault, Theft, Poaching, Fraud, White Collar Crime, Law Enforcement Use of Force, Sexual Abuse, Manslaughter, and Murder. He also has experience with cases involving land use regulations, property disputes, easements, employment law, property tax appeals, public records, open meetings, and mediation.
Michael has significant courtroom experience. He understands how local governments operate and uses his expertise to benefit his clients. He has a proven record of helping individuals and organizations through complex legal issues and working for the best possible outcome.
When not in the office, Michael enjoys spending time with his family, gardening, hunting, fishing, boating, hiking, running, and coaching various youth sports.
